Kota Kinabalu International Airport

Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) serves the city of Kota Kinabalu, the state capital of Sabah, Malaysia. It is located about 8km southwest of the city centre. It is the second busiest airport in Malaysia. The airport is the main gateway into the state of Sabah and into Borneo Island. Kota Kinabalu International Airport, KKIA, has flights coming in from Kuala Lumpur and international destinations as Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Manila, Bangkok, Taipei and Brunei. There are also domestic flights to and from other Sabah cities as Sandakan, Tawau and Lahad Datu. The new terminal building (Terminal 1) opened in 2008 offers all the convenience of a modern airport, including a variety of shopping and dining venues.


From Kota Kinabalu

Taxi service is the the only form of public transport from the new Terminal 1. Fixed rate from the airport to the town center is RM30 per taxi (up to 4 people); Buy a coupon from the Airport Taxi counter in the middle of Arrivals (Level 1). Proceed to the taxi rank outside and hand your coupon to the taxi driver. You can also catch a minibus at the main road to the city centre that will cost around RM 2.00 to RM 2.50
